Within the specified rules, any adult can participate. The comment sections are open for reports, feedback, and the exchange of ideas. Every person making their post is responsible for their content. We simply are offering a platform and an outlet for our visitors’ creativity.
Our name is a composition of two parts in 4 words: Online, Boarding, School, and Obsidian.
Obsidian
Obsidians are a family of semi-precious minerals formed when volcanoes erupt. They are natural volcanic glass, which is sometimes laced with visible spots of feldspar. In Obsidians, we witness a transformation. Therefore, this stone embodies – like very few others – a transformation process: from the liquid hot lava to volcanic glass, and later to feldspar. Thereby, this stone represents an eventful journey. We believe that everybody is on their own eventful journey through life. It is our hope, that by choosing this transformation stone as the name patron for our online boarding school Obsidian we may either initiate or propel good changes in the lives of those who visit our virtual school.
OBS
Obviously, the letters O,B, and S are also the first 3 letters of the word obsidian. We have chosen to add these letters for several good reasons; mainly because this acronym expresses our choice concept of an Online Boarding School. In the naval language an “obs” is the shortcut for an observatory. Last but not least the letters could be also read as 0 BS (as in zero, meaning no, and bs, short for bull-s***)

We believe that education has transformative power. Education widens our horizons and helps us open our minds. It fertilizes our development and our growth. Education gives us ability, as it empowers us to improve ourselves and be a more productive, positive influence in this world.
Education comes in many forms. We find that some ways work better than others. By creating a school-like environment we are setting a more orderly and more formal tone so that education can be embraced and encouraged. By offering a wide variety of content, learning can be more exciting, and even fun.

Schools are more than just a place to learn, they are also social entities, where people can interact, share ideas, find support, unity, and joy. Our Online Boarding School Obsidian also offers (Christian) spiritual habits as a vital part of the curriculum.

Contrary to most boarding schools or privately run educational facilities in real life, ObsObsidian offers its services for free. To run our page, we invest years of accumulated knowledge, experience, and expertise to offer a broad, interesting portfolio of suitable, educational, and fun activities for an interested adult. In other words, we sacrifice time, creativity, energy, effort, and money to build and keep ObsObsidian available to the public for free.
There are more ways to show your appreciation, by selflessly giving support if you are in the position to do that. We believe, that Giving is Golden!

We would love you to donate that material, to broaden Our portfolio. Maybe you have a hobby, craft, or talent, and you would want to make a guide on how others could learn from you? Then that is an excellent addition, and a very welcome donation. Maybe you have some professional training where you can impart some of that knowledge? Gifting us the teaching material to share, is like giving workbooks to a physical school library. Just make sure that you have the rights to the materials you are sharing, that there is no copyright infringement, or plagiarism involved. We play by the rules and the laws here at ObsObsidian.
The second support addition this year is Serving. When you decide you can volunteer your time, and your energy, We can look into how you can be of service. We may need you to do small tasks for Us online, be it in the background or even during live events, for example helping to moderate webinars, greet newbies, monitor activities, test pages, beta testing ideas or content pages, read contents, proof-read articles, research projects for tutoring, review or/and monitor tutoring materials, share relevant links, pray for those in need of prayer, public relations, transcribe recordings, and report problems.
