#NEED is an acronym for “New England Ethical Discipline”

Our #disciplinosophy article focuses on the Ethical Discipline aspect, and the role of Us, as New England Ethical Disciplinarians.
The word “need” describes requiring something essential, or very important. New England references a geographical and cultural region located in the North East of the United States of America (and reaching well into Canada).
Ethical Discipline describes both a philosophical and moral imperative, as well as its implied and applied actions and behaviors.

Let’s examine the word meanings first. Ethics are defined as following of a moral code in our activities and behaviors; siding with rightful and honorable principles over their lesser alternatives. A disciplinarian is technically speaking someone, who enforces discipline. Discipline is the practice to train compliance with rules while using deterrents for short-comings.
Ethical Discipline therefore is training to obey rules on a higher moral ground.
Ethical Disciplinarians are empathic to the wants and trials of those, whom they train and teach. They understand the power of temptation, the rationalization of excuses, the power of procrastination, and the yearning for comfort over the dread of momentary discomfort, and short term suffering. Understanding and knowing well, how difficult it is to choose the high road, Ethical Disciplinarians give guidelines and guard-rails for the straight and narrow path through life’s troubles. Ethical Disciplinarians show the way, point to the way, help to discern the right choices over the bad ones, and vehemently deter from the short-cuts, traps and trepidations.
Ethical Discipline understands the necessity of rules, and adherence to them, the benefits of a disciplined approach to tasks, and how discipline actually leads to success in most aspects of life. Discipline is the highway to happiness.
Ethical Disciplinarians care about their charges. Because We care about Our charges’ well being, their long term future, health, careers, wealth, relationships, etc. We, New England Ethical Disciplinarians teach and train model behaviors that will withstand the tests of time, and generate sustainably dependable results in every crucial aspect of life.
Ethical Disciplinarians are different because Our actions must also conform to the same morals. The power of the Ethical Disciplinarian to direct, and punish is framed and counterweighted by responsibility, reasonability, honorability, and integrity.
Ethical Discipline understands the impact of punishment as a form of deterrent, but also the destructive and counterproductive effects a wrongful application of punishments may impose.
New England Ethical Disciplinarians will never favor any type of deterrent that could in any way, shape, or form, before, meanwhile, or after its application be enjoyed or eroticized by its receiver. The deterrents are chosen and crafted in such a way, that they will remove comforting or comfortable aspects, that they will be perceived as unpleasant, undesirable, and actually dreaded because they are, indeed dreadful.
New England Ethical Discipline punishments therefore are exactly that: punishing any unwanted behavior, so that its receiver can vividly learn and realize, how bad behaviors feel really, really bad and therefore must be avoided. Souring up the short-cuts, making the cheap cheats so much more expensive in the moment takes away even the short-lived benefit of bad behaviors.
NEED punishments still are crafted in the spirit of ethical disciplinary measures, and therefore always include an element of teaching of right over wrong, moral over immoral, high-road over low-life behaviors. Even the actions of punishment thereby become teaching moments more, than a simple deterrent. As the punishment is endured, and ideally embraced, the recipient finds themselves in a class room, in detention, forced to refocus their valued attention on “how to do life the right way”, and how to make wise choices; always.
We, New England Ethical Disciplinarians care about our charges. We value them, and their live(s). We see them as who they truly are: children of a wonderful, magnificent God, made with purpose, made with love, for love, and a life-time of happiness.
New England Ethical Discipline is the road from where-ever Ours are, to meet with their purpose and (develop their full) potential. Life is for the living, and success is for those who have discipline.
